Press kits:
  • Rock band media bio (writer)
    Aspiring rock stars may be all about the music, but someone's got to get their story out there. This intro letter was sent to media outlets with copies of a new CD for review.

  • TV series episode summaries (editor)
    TV series need episode summaries for program guides and media exposure. Starting from rough outlines, the producer hired me as an editor to maximize viewer interest.

  • Radio interview pitch letter (writer)
    A dietitian needed a pitch letter to send to radio hosts who might be looking for guests. This pitch was part of a press release package I created for this client. It resulted in 3 media interviews for the client in one week.
Corporate Profiles:
  • CEO profile (writer)
    A CEO profile for an Internet Marketing company that captures the subject's style and marketing focus.

  • Entrepreneur profile (writer)
    This profile will be used as the "About Me" page on a web site, and for dealings with potential investors and partners.

  • Distributor profile (writer)
    In network marketing, distributors drive the business. This distributor profile shows off one successful seller's business-building strategies.

  • Employee profile (writer)
    Internal communications     make all corporate stakeholders feel like part of something bigger than themselves. This profile shows what an IT manager brings to his organization.

Marketing Communications pieces:
  • Bookstore advertising (writer)
    This Vancouver-area bookstore needed copy written for advertising supplements in the community paper. I interviewed the staff and worked with the newspaper ad rep to complete these pieces. I also helped the store launch their book club, which brought a whole new group of loyal customers to the store.

  • Consultant offer letter (writer)
    This Vancouver home-staging company needed a way to introduce their services to small- to medium- housing developers who had the potential to be their biggest clients. I wrote the letter and sourced the graphic design. 

  • Rock band bio for venues (writer)
    I created a set of three bios for this Vancouver-based rock band, tailored for specific media use. This one targets venue owners looking to book them for a show.

Newsletters:
  • B2B (writer/editor)
    I developed this business-to-business newsletter for a network-driven company, including writing, editing, and layout for more than 30 issues. Anything I didn't write in this sample issue, I edited.

  • B2C (writer/editor)
    This business-to-consumer newsletter promotes a nutritional supplement company's products and shows how they can be incorporated into customers' daily routines. I wrote, edited, and did layout for more than 15 issues.

Writing for the Web:
  • Bed and Breakfast site (writer)
    This White Rock B&B needed to build a marketing communications package from the ground up. I wrote all the copy on the web site and created collateral like brochures and fact sheets.

  • Free report (writer)
    A free report can be the best way to build an opt-in email list that you can send promotional materials to later. This free report builds a relationship by offering valuable information in exchange for an e-mail address.

  • Online articles – search engine optimized (writer)
    Creating an article that works for real people as well as search engines is a balancing act. These optimized article drive traffic to an e-commerce site.

  • Rock band homepage (writer)
    This Vancouver rock band needed a bio for their homepage that would draw in potential fans -- and potential booking agents.

  • The Vancouver Sun (writer)
    This travel article explains why travelling as a vegetarian can cometimes be a challenge.

  • The Vancouver Courier (writer)
    This human-interest story features a community garden project that centralized one Vancouver neighborhood.

  • The Voice (writer)
    A front-page article that looks at the issues surrounding the availability of emergency contraception in a college's on-site clinic.

  • Student Life Magazine (writer)
    In this piece I translated my experience as a bank teller into valuable information for students -- how to save money on banking fees. What experience do you have that I could help you create publicity with?
